Houston,TX : Galveston man sentenced in fatal intoxication-related crash on June, Wednesday 28th 2017

A man with a past impaired driving conviction on his record was sentenced to 16 years in prison for intoxication manslaughter in a 2015 crash that killed a woman parked along the Seawall.
On Apr. 2, 2015, Gerardo Gilberto Flores, 37, was driving the wrong way along the 3900 block of Seawall Blvd. about 11:30 p.m. when his Chevrolet Impala struck a car that Rosalinda Bruno had been driving.

Bruno, a Galveston resident, was sitting in her parked car when Flores struck her. The force of impact caused his car to flip over. Both vehicles had heavy front-end damage, officials said.
Bruno died at the scene while Flores was taken to the hospital. He admitted being the driver, officials said.
A blood test showed he had a blood-alcohol level of .019. In Texas, the legal limit is .08 percent. The test also found traces of phencyclidine, commonly known as PCP, in his system.
Flores must serve at least half of his sentence before he is eligible for parole. He also was fined $10,000.
