Durham ,ME : 52-year-old Beth L. Woodmancy killed after veers off road and strikes utility pole on Sunday night,August 2nd 2015

Authorities in Maine say a motorcycle has crashed into a pole, killing its driver.

Chief Deputy William Gagne of the Androscoggin County sheriff's office says it happened Sunday night in Durham. Police on Monday identified the driver as 52-year-old Beth L. Woodmancy, of Brunswick.

Gagne says Woodmancy was traveling north on Route 125 when she failed to negotiate a curve, left the west side of the road and struck a utility pole.

Police say she was not wearing a helmet. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe speed was a factor in the crash. They also say there may have been witnesses that they have not yet spoken to.
