Albany, OR : Truck crashes into railroad trestle on Tuesday, 4th October 2016
A semi truck with May Trucking collided with the railroad trestle bridge Tuesday morning on First Avenue between Madison and Thurston streets in Albany. The impact severed the trailer from the rest of the truck.
The mishap is the second such incident in less than a month at the same crossing, which features a row of hanging chains with yellow bars attached, about 30 yards ahead of the bridge, meant to alert drivers of the potential for collision.
The driver, James Rolen, 40, was cited for careless driving and failure to obey a traffic control device.
First Avenue was closed while crews cleared the area, but the road was reopened by 12:45 p.m. There were no reported injuries.
