Hickory,NC : Vehicle being sought in deadly Hickory hit-and-run on August, Monday 21sh 2017

A driver is wanted in a deadly hit-and-run that happened early Monday morning in Hickory.

Hickory police say 54-year-old Ricky James Yelton was struck after he wrecked his moped near the intersection of Startown Road and 23rd Street Drive SE. It happened around 5:41 a.m.

Yelton was pronounced dead on scene.

Police describe the suspect vehicle as a red 2007 Daewoo Optra with damage to the front driver's side.

The Hickory Police Department says they are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information to call them at 828-328-5551.
