A 100-year-old Portage, Michigan, woman died in a crash Sunday afternoon near Crothersville, Indiana.

Eleanor Burklow was the passenger in a car that crashed on I-65 southbound around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Indiana State Police said.

Richard Gulbis, 74, of Kalamazoo, was driving south on the highway when he lost control of the 2006 Buick Rendezvous. The sport-utility vehicle left the west side of the road and overturned.

Gulbis and his wife, Sharon Gulbis, 72, of Kalamazoo, were transported to University of Louisville Hospital with serious injuries. Burklow, Sharon Gulbis' mother, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say dropping temperatures and a light snow falling in the area may have contributed to the crash. Police continue to investigate.
