Middlebury, VT : Traffic flagger hit and killed on Route 7 in Addison County on Friday morning, March 11, 2016

A traffic flagger was struck and killed Friday morning on Route 7 in Middlebury.

Authorities say Lawrence Kaminski, 75, of Wallingford, was working in the southbound breakdown lane by Three Mile Bridge Road when he was struck around 8:30 a.m.

Police say Kaminski was with Green Mountain Flagging, and was there for a company doing cable work on telephone poles.

Investigators are now looking into how it happened.

"Our initial investigation shows that the flagger was behind the truck. The truck was backing up-- collided with him," Middlebury Police Sgt. Michael Christopher.

The utility truck that struck the victim said ECE of Brookfield on the side. Authorities are now determining whether or not the driver will face charges.

Traffic in the area has been rerouted.
