Mansfield , MA : One person killed in Crash after car crashes into rock and Hit utility pole on Early Sunday Morning , January 18th 2015

One person is dead following an early morning crash in Mansfield on Sunday.

Mansfield police received reports of a single-car crash near 1810 West St. at 4:30 a.m.

Responding officers found a vehicle with heavy damage and the driver of that vehicle dead at the scene, according to police.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of family.

An investigation showed the driver lost control of the vehicle while driving into Mansfield from North Attleboro, veered off the road, and struck a large rock and telephone police, according to police.

Investigators were at the scene of the crash until 7:40 a.m., according to police.

The crash remains under investigation by Mansfield Police and the Massachusetts State Police.
