BEAUGRAND TOWNSHIP, MI : Downstate man killed in car accident over the weekend on Friday, 6th September 2019
A downstate man was killed Friday after being ejected from his vehicle as it rolled over.
The Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to an unknown rollover accident Friday, Sept. 6, around 7:52 a.m., on Levering Road, near MacArthur Road in Beaugrand Township.
“The caller stated there was a vehicle on its top, in the woods, about 30 feet off the roadway, making it hard to see,” said Cheboygan County Sheriff Dale Clarmont.
When the deputies arrived on scene, they quickly discovered that it had been a fatal accident.
The driver of the 2007 Toyota Tacoma pickup was determined to be 28-year-old Aaron Robert Stillwell of Reed City.
Stillwell had been traveling east on Levering Road when he ran off the roadway, went through the ditch and into the trees. The truck rolled end over end.
“We do not have any evidence or information providing any other cause as to why the vehicle left the roadway, other than we know he was traveling at a high rate of speed and did not negotiate the curve,” said Clarmont.
Clarmont said Stillwell was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and he was thrown from the vehicle.
The sheriff’s department is currently waiting on the results of the toxicology reports to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
