TACONITE, MN : One hurt in two-vehicle crash near Scenic Highway 7 on Monday, 14th January 2019

A teen driver sustained injuries following two-vehicle collision near Scenic Highway 7, north of Taconite, around 9:20 p.m. Monday.

A 2015 Ford Escape being driven by Gabriella G. Giusti, 17, of Bovey, was traveling north on Scenic Highway 7 at County Road 60, where she attempted a left hand turn.

A 2004 Buick Lesabre being driven by Brandon L. Hunt, 38, of Hibbing, was also traveling north and attempted to pass in the oncoming lanes, where it struck Giusti’s vehicle as she was turning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol (MSP). The Buick came to rest in the west ditch.

Giusti sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of impact and an airbag deployed.

Hunt was not injured. It is unknown whether he was wearing a seatbelt and an airbag deployed. Alcohol was involved, according to the MSP.
