Danville,IL : Car-truck crash kills 31-year-old Danville woman on November, Friday 17th 2017

Police are investigating a car-truck collision early Friday that killed a 31-year-old Danville woman.

Public Safety Director Larry Thomason said the accident occurred at 12:21 a.m. Friday in the 1300 block of North Bowman Avenue, just north of the intersection with Voorhees Street.

Thomason said the woman was southbound on Bowman when she drove into the path of an oncoming pickup truck being driven by a 66-year-old Danville man.

“Witness accounts indicate the female driver was driving at a high rate of speed,” he said.


Thomason said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 3-year-old passenger and the driver of the pickup were taken by ambulance to an Urbana hospital. Their conditions weren’t available Friday afternoon.

This is the second fatal accident in Danville in two days. On Thursday afternoon, Michael S. Shanks, 52, of Kokomo, Ind., was pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana after a head-on collision on Memorial Bridge downtown.
