Fort Myers,FL : Victim identified in McGregor fatal crash on January, Monday 29th 2018

At least one person is dead after a car hit powerlines on McGregor Boulevard, shutting down traffic from Cypress Lake Drive to A&W Bulb Road on Monday morning.

Deputies responded to a vehicle fire at approximately 2:10 a.m. to find a blue car fully engulfed in flames and crashed into a downed power pole.

Firefighters initially said the damage was too bad to identify the vehicle or the victim. They eventually identified the driver on Tuesday as 30-year-old Jason Bryner of Fort Myers.

As a result of the crash, lanes in both directions were closed but have since reopened with only one lane being blocked due to the downed power line.

The downed power lines are causing power outages in the surrounding neighborhoods. The Florida Power and Light is working to get those power lines cleared and power back to those neighborhoods.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office and fire department are investigating.
