Pedestrian killed in New Castle County crash

A pedestrian was killed in an accident in New Hanover County early Friday morning.According to officials with Highway Patrol, Fakinah Cook, 36 of Castle Hayne, was standing in the road when a van hit her on Highway 117 at the corner of Castle Hayne Road, near the General Electric Facility.No charges were filed against the driver, who is expected to be okay.It is unclear if Cook was under the influence at the time of the accident. Officials are awaiting the toxicology report.
