Lemoore, CA : 21-year-old Christian Clark injured in fatal motorcycle crash near highways 198 and 99 on Tuesday, April 28, 2015

The California Highway Patrol is looking for witnesses who may have seen an unexplained motorcycle crash Tuesday near highways 198 and 99.

Public Information Officer Scott Harris said investigators are trying to determine how 21-year-old Christian Clark ended up nearly five miles away from his crashed 2012 Suzuki motorcycle.

Clark was found near Highway 198 and Shirk Road around 2 a.m. Tuesday after a 911 caller reported seeing a pedestrian in the area. He was found with major injuries consistent with being in a crash or an assault.

Scott said Clark told officers that he had not been in a collision and thought he was still in the Lemoore area, near the Naval Air Station. Scott could not confirm if Clark is a service member.

Clark was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment. The CHP said he is in stable condition.

After searching the area, the CHP said no signs of a collision were found.

It wasn't until 5 p.m. Tuesday that officers were able to track down Clark's crashed motorcycle. A caller reported a possible crash near highways 198 and 99 and when officers arrived they found Clark's motorcycle on the shoulder of the road.

Scott said it is still being investigated whether the collision was a single vehicle crash or if another car was involved.

No other details were available.
