TAZEWELL, VA :West Virginia man dies in crash in Tazewell County on Tuesday, 9th October 2018

Charges are pending after a crash in Tazewell County, Va. claimed the life of a West Virginia resident, a representative of the Virginia State Police said Tuesday.

Virginia State Police Trooper J.A. Stiltner is investigating a single-vehicle crash in Tazewell County, Corinne N. Geller, public relations director for the Virginia State Police, said. The crash occurred Oct. 6 at 3:25 p.m. on Route 643 less than a mile east of Route 637.

A 2013 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling east on Route 643 when it ran off the right side of the highway and struck several trees.

The driver, a 58-year-old male from Bishop, W.Va., was treated for minor injuries at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt, Geller said. The passenger, Scotty R. Harman, 58, of Squire, W.Va., died at the scene. Harman was not wearing a seat belt.
