A release states a minivan with four occupants was traveling on Daily Road when it pulled out into the path of a passenger bus headed eastbound on Pokagon Highway.
Two occupants of the minivan, a 13-year-old boy and a 11-year-old girl were thrown from the vehicle during the crash. Emergency personnel had to help get another passenger, 41-year-old Linda Rodriguez out of the vehicle. All three suffered serious injuries. The minivan's driver, 43-year-old Luis Rodriguez, sustained minor injuries. All four were taken to various hospitals either by ambulance or helicopter.
The Cass County Public Transportation bus contained driver Arthur Downey and passenger Thomas Rutherford. The written release from State Police indicate they suffered only minor injuries.
Trooper Cameron Sweet told FOX28 News the particular intersection sees a lot of crashes. Traffic on Pokagon Highway has the right-of-way at the intersection, where traffic in either direction on Daily Road must stop. Stop signs and flashing red lights are posted on Daily Road warning drivers of the traffic pattern.
