Omaha, NE : 20-year-old killed in rollover crash near Springfield on Sunday, December 20, 2015
Sarpy County dispatchers confirmed one person is dead after a rollover crash near Springfield.
Deputies were dispatched at 6:20 a.m. to Highway 31 and Riha Road, according to a release from the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office.
Fire and rescue units found a 1992 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck on its roof off the shoulder of the road.
Tiffany Hofmeister, 20, who had been partially ejected from the vehicle, was dead at the scene. It was determined that she wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
At the time of the arrival, no driver was located. A search of the area involving the Nebraska State Patrol helicopter and K-9 was unsuccessful in finding the driver.
An investigation revealed that the driver of the truck lives in Louisville, but not contact was made at his residence.
The man was found at 12:15 p.m. a mile west of the crash scene, coming out of a field.
He was transported to Creighton Medical Center for evaluation.
The crash is still under investigation.
