COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, UT : Traffic moving after 'major accident' on SR 190 in Big Cottonwood Canyon on Sunday, 24th January 2021
Four people were injured Sunday in a "major accident" that temporarily closed both directions of state Route 190 in Big Cottonwood Canyon.
A tweet from Unified police said three of the people involved suffered only minor injuries, but one is in serious condition. It added that two cars were involved in the crash.
The crash occurred about 6 miles up the canyon at the "S-turn," officials said. At 5:18 p.m., the Utah Department of Transportation tweeted that downhill lanes will be open as a second tow truck works to get one of the vehicles off the canyon. Both lanes of traffic fully reopened at 7:15 p.m. after both vehicles were removed from the embankment.
