ASH TOWNSHIP, MI : Carleton man dies in morning crash on Wednesday, March 8th 2017

A Carleton man was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash.

The accident occurred around 7 a.m. on N. Telegraph and Carleton-Rockwood Rd. in Ash Township.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Monroe Post responded to the crash.


Preliminary investigation indicates a Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling south on Telegraph Rd. when the driver did not stop at a red traffic light and struck a Chevrolet Cavalier heading east on Carleton-Rockwood Rd., police said.

The driver of the Avalanche was taken to Beaumont Hospital, Trenton for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Cavalier, a 50-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not released.

Ash Township Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance assisted as the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
