Seguin, TX : Four people were injured in a seven-vehicle wreck on Interstate 10 on Wednesday, January, 24th 2018
Four people were injured in a seven-vehicle wreck on Interstate 10 Wednesday afternoon.
The wreck happened about 4:45 p.m. eastbound on Interstate 10 near mile marker 606 while a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was conducting a traffic stop and a pair of vehicles collided, Seguin Police Spokesman Officer Carlos Contreras said.
“As cars were moving over, the initial collision happened,” he said. “The other vehicles were not able to slow down fast enough and then collided into those cars.”
In total, one sports utility vehicle, two pickup trucks, three passenger cars and one flat-bed truck were involved, officials said.
One patient was extricated from one of the cars by the Seguin Fire Department, however their injuries did not appear to be life threatening, Contreras said.
“Two patients were transported via helicopter — one was flown to San Antonio Military Medical Center, and one was flown to University Hospital in San Antonio,” Contreras said. “Two were taken by ambulance to Guadalupe Regional Medical Center for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries.”
While Seguin Police Department investigated the scene, Texas Department of Public Safety and Guadalupe County Sheriffs Office diverted traffic.
Traffic was diverted from I-10 as it was shut down for about two hours while first responders worked to investigate and clear the scene.
“Key reminder here would be to not only move over, but slow down when you see an emergency vehicle working,” Contreras said.
