Owatonna, MN : Two Steele County crashes reported Tuesday August 11th 2015

First responders were called to two crashes that took place around lunchtime Tuesday in western Steele County.
The first crash was reported close to noon on Crane Creek Road. A furniture delivery truck driving westbound reportedly lost control and landed on its side across the road just east of the intersection with 97th Avenue NW. Sheriff Lon Thiele said the driver and one passenger were reported up and walking about after the crash. A minor fluid leak from the truck was cleaned up on the scene.
The section of Crane Creek Road where the crash occurred is under construction, part of the larger concrete overlay project being done on the former Highway 14 by the Minnesota Department of Transportation, and Thiele said access is permitted for local traffic only. The crash remains under investigation, and it was not immediately known if the construction in the area contributed to the crash. The Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene.
A second crash was reported while officers were still on the scene of the first, shortly before 12:20 p.m., in the 7000 block of 38th Street SW. An 18-year-old driver in a Ford Fusion traveling eastbound left the roadway and rolled over, coming to rest upside down on the edge of a farm field to the south of the road.
Steele County deputies responded to the scene along with Gold Cross Ambulance and the Owatonna Fire Department. Thiele said the driver was taken from the scene by Gold Cross to be checked for injuries, and as of mid-afternoon Tuesday none had been reported. Sweet Towing and Repair was called to remove the car from the ditch.
