Manatee County, FL : Two people seriously injured after car collided with another vehicle on State Road 70 on Sunday morning, December 6, 2015

A driver and a passenger received serious injuries when their car collided with another vehicle on State Road 70 on Sunday morning.

Paramedics took John Clayton Zipperer, 21, of Bradenton, to Blake Medical Center. They transported his passenger - Austin Haley, 21, of Manatee County - to Manatee Memorial Hospital.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol: Shortly before 11:30 a.m., Leann Rae Smith, 57, of Bradenton, drove a Ford Mustang west in the right lane of S.R. 70 just west of Pope Road. She attempted to move into the center lane when her car struck a westbound Toyota driven by Zipperer. Smith, who was not injured, is charged with improper lane change.
