Ocala, FL : Homosassa man, 26, killed in wreck on Thursday, 12th March, 2020

A 26-year-old Homosassa man was killed Thursday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Ocala, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

Don Nicholas Kemp was on a 2007 Harley-Davidson Dyna Glide in the right lane, traveling northbound on Interstate 75 at approximately 7:20 a.m. behind a 1994 Dodge Ram driven by Jose Ramon Diaz Rivera, 70, of Ocala. The report stated Rivera was slowing for traffic in the northbound right lane, while a 2008 Toyota Highlander driven by Allan Granda, 68, of Valrico, was behind Kemp.

According to the reports, for unknown reasons Kemp failed to slow down in time for traffic ahead, causing the front of his motorcycle to collide with the right, rear of Rivera’s truck. Kemp fell from his motorcycle into the right, northbound lane of I-75.

Kemp was then struck by the Highlander being driven by Granda, who did not have time to avoid the collision, the report stated. Kemp became lodged beneath the undercarriage of the Highlander. Granda brought his vehicle to a controlled rest on the west paved median emergency lane.

Kemp was pronounced dead on scene by Marion County Fire Rescue.

According to the report, the crash remains under investigation.
