PAYSON, UT : Two dead, one critical after car vs. semi trailer crash on Interstate 15 in Payson on Thursday, 4th January 2024

Two people have died and another was transported to the hospital in critical condition after their vehicle collided with an overturned semi truck's trailer that was blocking northbound Interstate 15 in Payson Thursday morning.

Troopers with the Utah Highway Patrol told 2News that a call came in around 1:20 a.m. on Jan. 4 regarding a rollover crash involving a Freightliner semi truck hauling a single-unit trailer at milepost 248.

The semi was reportedly heading northbound when it drifter off of the roadway to the left for an unknown reason. The driver then overcorrected back to the right and lost control of the vehicle, causing the truck to roll over onto its side. Both the semi and the trailer came to a rest facing east, blocking two northbound lanes of Interstate 15.
