St. Johns County, FL : Motorcyclist dies after S.R. A1A wreck in St. Johns County on Wednesday, 25th December, 2019

A St. Augustine man died after a wreck at the intersection of State Road A1A and State Road 206 on Wednesday evening.

Around 7 p.m., Lily Hynes, 19, of St. Augustine, was driving a 2018 Subaru Outback north on S.R. A1A and merged into the westbound turn lane at the S.R. 206 intersection, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

At the same time, John Walbrun, 63, of St. Augustine, was driving a 2006 Yamaha XV1700 motorcycle south on S.R. A1A toward the intersection, according to the FHP.

Hynes turned in front of Walbrun, and Walbrun hit the right front of the Subaru, according to the release. Walbrun, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, died after the wreck.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
