Crossville, TN : Driver in fatal crash ID’d on Wednesday August 31, 2016

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified an Illinois man who lost his life in a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 68 near Grassy Cove Wednesday night.

Kevin Hetzel, 32, Worth, IL, was dead at the scene of the wreck that occurred around 10 p.m. near Pennywinkle Springs on the eastern escarpment leading out of Grassy Cove, according to Trooper Bobby Barker’s report.

Hetzel was driving his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado toward Spring City as he exited the cove. He lost control of the vehicle in the first curve and struck a guardrail, rolling up and over the barrier and striking a tree.

Hetzel was an employee for Simmers Crane Co. and was working under contract on equipment for the Tennessee Valley Authority.
