Columbus,OH : Women extricated in Bazetta crash on may, monday 8th 2017

A two-car collision this morning in the 300 block of Johnson Plank Road required removal of two people with an extrication device.

Bazetta Fire Department arrived on the scene about 8 a.m. to find a minivan overturned in a ditch and a truck in the middle of the roadway.

One of two women in the minivan was having trouble breathing.

Because of the position of the van, the women could not be rescued from the vehicle without mechanical assistance.

Bazetta Fire Department had to use extraction devices to remove the women from the vehicle. It took nearly an hour to remove them, emergency crews said. The two people were transported to Trumbull Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.

The road was closed during the extrication, but it has now reopened.
