Topeka, KS : Two women injured in three-vehicle crash in East Topeka on Tuesday November 24 2015
Two women were treated at a local hospital late Tuesday morning after a three-vehicle crash in East Topeka.
Emergency responders were sent at 11 a.m. to the 2600 block of S.E. California Avenue on a report of an injury crash.
Police officer Aaron Bulmer said at the scene that a woman who was driving a white Chevrolet Trailblazer in the left northbound lane of S.E. California “had a medical condition and blacked out.”
Her car then veered into the right northbound lane, where it struck the back of a green, four-door Ford Focus that was stopped at a red light near an entrance to a Walmart store. The Focus then rear-ended a Ford Freestar minivan that also was stopped at the red light.
Bulmer said the female drivers of the Trailblazer and Focus were taken by American Medical Response ambulance to a Topeka hospital. Their injuries weren’t considered to be life-threatening.
Officer Bill Wempe said the driver of the Ford minivan complained of neck and head pain but didn’t require ambulance transportation to the hospital.
Traffic was allowed to proceed in the left northbound lane while police, fire and AMR crews cleared the scene.
