LIVE OAK, FL : One dead in Saturday accident on Saturday, 29th October 2016

A Saturday afternoon accident ended in one fatality and serious injuries for the other two people involved, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Ronald Irvin Emerson, 79, of Alachua, was traveling south on 77th Road, according to the report.

Joseph Walter Wood Jr., 47, of White Springs was traveling east on State Road 247, pulling a boat behind him, the report states.

Shannan Michelle Thomas, 45, of White Springs, was traveling with Wood, according to the report.

At 3:50 p.m., Emerson attempted to cross State Road 247, pulling into the path of Wood’s vehicle, the report states.

The front right of Emerson’s vehicle hit the front left of Wood’s vehicle, according to the report.

Wood’s vehicle slid off the road and the boat became detached from its trailer and lunged into Wood’s cab, the report states.

Emerson was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.

Wood and Thomas were taken to Shands at UF with serious injuries, the report states.
