Man struck, killed after getting out of wrecked car on East Freeway
Houston police say a man who got out of his wrecked car was struck and killed by passing motorists on the East Freeway late Wednesday.
The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. in the 8000 block of the freeway near the McCarty Street exit.
According to police, the driver was traveling eastbound when he lost control of his blue Chevrolet Cavalier, hit an inside concrete barrier, and then veered across all the lanes to exit the freeway.
The man then got out of his wrecked car and was attempting to walk across the main lanes of the freeway when he was struck by one or more vehicles.
None of the other drivers involved stopped.
The 28-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
