A 27-year-old man was seriously injured when he crashed a smart car into a power pole in North Portland early Wednesday morning.

Police say alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

The man crashed a Car2Go smart car into a power pole along North Interstate Avenue near Interstate Place just after 1 a.m., police said.

Paramedics took the man to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. His name has not been released.
