North Elba, NY : Quebec motorcyclist killed in crash on Adirondack road early Sunday afternoon, July 17, 2016

State police say a 49-year-old Canadian man has died in a motorcycle in the Adirondacks.

Troopers say Jean Francois Toupin of Quebec was driving his 2009 Kawasaki on River Road in the Essex County town of North Elba early Sunday afternoon when he went off the road and hit a guard rail.

Toupin was transported to Adirondack Medical Center in the nearby village of Lake Placid, where he was later pronounced dead.

Troopers say an autopsy will be performed Monday.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
