Schuylkill County woman who was severely injured last year in a violent, head-on crash in South Whitehall Township has died, Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said Sunday.
Caitlin McGarry, 23, of Schuylkill Haven, died Saturday at Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital in Bethlehem, Grim said Sunday. He said the cause of death is pending completion of an autopsy scheduled for Monday.
The crash happened about 7:15 a.m. April 26, 2017, in the 3500 block of Hamilton Boulevard. When police arrived, they found McGarry trapped inside her car and another victim, Runo Ouano of Allentown, ejected from her sport utility vehicle.
South Whitehall police Sgt. Joel Wischner said the crash remains under investigation. He said Ouano was treated for her injuries and released. Anyone with information can call Wischner at 610-398-0337 or the coroner’s office at 610-782-3426.
