DESTIN, FL : Man identified in A wreck on Sunday, June 4, 2017

The identity of the man who was critically injured Saturday night after being struck by a car was released Sunday.

William Trekell was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in critical condition, his status Sunday could not be confirmed.

The accident occurred around 7:48 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 98 and Marler Street in Destin. All westbound lanes of U.S. 98 were closed for several hours while Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash.

Battalion Chief Bronson Coleman said he did not know the circumstances that led to the accident.
