Man dies from injuries suffered in Sunday traffic accident

Worth County authorities have confirmed that an elderly Ty Ty man has died after suffering injuries in an auto accident Sunday on Sledge Road in Ty Ty.According to reports, J.D Gibbs, 91, died around 5 p.m. Monday after being transported to Macon Medical Center of Georgia with serious injuries.Georgia State Trooper Cpl. Dana Harnage said Tuesday that Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) reported that a semi truck driven by Jimmy Lee Pitts was traveling south when its wheels locked up and he skidded off the road striking Gibbs’ pickup truck.Gibbs was airlifted to Macon where he later died as a result of his injuries.The GSP has charged Pitts with driving too fast for conditions.
