Authorities say a man changing a flat tire on a New York City road near John F. Kennedy International Airport was hit and killed by another car.
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Ron Marsico says it happened shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday.
The man was driving another passenger when the car had a flat tire on the Van Wyck Expressway. He got out, and was struck and killed by a minivan. Marsico says the van's occupants and the passenger in the man's car were taken to a nearby hospital. The extent of any injuries was unclear.
The man's identity has not been released.
The roadway was shut down for several hours, leading to lengthy traffic delays.
