Manatee County,FL: Man dies in Manatee County crash on May,Saturday 26th 2018

A Florida man died Saturday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to the report, Pedro Mancia Cartagena, 30, of Plant City was driving west on State Road 62 about 1:25 p.m., near the intersection with Carlton Road. Cartagena says he braked to avoid an animal that had moved into his path. In doing so, he lost control of his GMC Yukon SUV. The vehicle veered off the road, hit a ditch and then overturned. It struck a tree stump and continued overturning into a field.

A passenger, Juan Nolasco, 42, of Dover, Florida, died in the accident.

Cartagena was taken to South Bay Hospital with minor injuries.

Cartagena was charged with careless driving and having no valid drivers license.
