CULLMAN COUNTY, AL : 21-year-old dies in Cullman County crash; two hospitalized on Saturday, 24th August 2024

In Cullman County, a 21-year-old woman died in a two-car crash on I-65 near the 293-mile marker according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

21-year-old Mirra Bride Dot Popee Chafin was killed when her Ford Mustang left the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned. Lara A. Phillips, 23, was Chaffin's passenger in the vehicle.

Both Chafin and Phillips were ejected from the vehicle. Chafin died on scene and Phillips was airlifted to UAB Hospital to receive medical treatment.

Chafin and Phillips both were not using seatbelts at the time of the crash.
