Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Two women were killed and another person injured in a Friday morning crash on Roosevelt Boulevard in Feltonville.
The crash occurred at about 7:50 a.m. on the boulevard just north of D Street. Police said a Ford Expedition SUV rammed into a tractor trailer that was legally parked in the right-most lane of the outer northbound lanes of the boulevard.
The truck driver was not in the vehicle when the accident occurred.
Marshaye Flowers, 40, and Asia Holland, 25, who were passengers in the SUV, were pronounced dead by medics at the scene about 9 a.m., police said.
A man, who was driving the SUV, was transported to Einstein Medical Center in stable condition. His name was not released.
The SUV was heavily damaged and appeared crumpled.
Police Lt. Gregory Brown told 6ABC that authorities are investigating whether another vehicle contributed to the crash.
"Some people say there was another vehicle, but again, the investigation will reveal that. We're canvassing the area for witnesses and or any type of video that we may be able to find," Brown told the TV station, adding that "at this point, I can't confirm" that another vehicle was involved.
The outer northbound lanes were closed as police and first responders remained at the scene.
