Catawba,NC : Teen struck by car, killed on I-40 in Catawba County on August, Wednesday 9th 2017

A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Catawba County Wednesday night.

Highway Patrol says 18-year-old Jose Jorge Lopez Torres was struck by a car around 10:43 p.m. on Interstate 40 westbound.

The teen appeared to be injured before he was struck and killed, troopers say.

The interstate was closed for a time but has since reopened.

Troopers say the woman who struck Torres remained on scene.

The crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
