Dayton, OH : Motorcyclist injured after a two-vehicle crash near the Dayton Community Park on Tuesday, March 15, 2016

A motorcyclist has been upgraded from having suffered life-threatening injuries to non-life threatening injuries following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday, involving a car.

It happened just after 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of North Broadway and Superior Avenue in Dayton – near the Dayton Community Park.

Dayton police tell 2 NEWS that the motorcyclist and a blue van were traveling in opposite directions on Broadway when the van pulled in front of the motorcycle, striking the male victim.

He was transported to Miami Valley Hospital. Dayton police say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Dayton police say they want to encourage motorcyclists to wear helmets at all times when riding, even in nice weather.

The intersection is closed to traffic as of Tuesday afternoon.

The driver of the blue van was also taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.
