Tucson, AZ : 80-year-old Kenneth Lamar Ray died in a head-on collision on the Nogales Highway in Sahuarita on Wednesday, April 1, 2015

A Green Valley man died today in a head-on collision on the Nogales Highway in Sahuarita on Wednesday.

According to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, 80-year-old Kenneth Lamar Ray was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident in the 11000 block of South Nogales Highway, near the intersection with Old Nogales Highway.

Accident investigators say a passenger car driven by Ray drifted from the southbound lane and collided with a northbound Chevrolet Suburban. The 42-year-old driver of the Suburban was taken to a local hospital suffering from minor injuries.
Both drivers were traveling within the posted speed limit of 55 miles per hour and were wearing seat belts. Investigators do not believe impairment was a factor in the accident.

The area was temporarily shut down and re-opened around 5:45 p.m.
