Washington,IL : Omaha man killed, wife seriously hurt, in Illinois hit-and-run crash on January, Friday 5th 2018

A hit-and-run crash in western Illinois Friday night took the life of an Omaha man and seriously injured his wife.

Ervin Goeden, 93, was killed in the crash. His wife, Patricia, was air-lifted by medical helicopter for treatment at a St. Louis hospital.

According to the Washington County, Illinois coroner's office the crash happened on Interstate 64, just west of Nashville, Illinois.

The Goedens' vehicle was driven by another family member who escaped with minor injuries. Their car was hit, left the road, went down an embankment and struck a tree.

The crash is being investigated by the Illinois State Police.
