Criminal charges are pending as a result of a crash Tuesday afternoon that killed a Jefferson City woman on Flat Gap Road, troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol report.
Andrea Sueann Carter, 24, died in the 3 p.m. accident at the Seahorn Road intersection, Trooper Toby Cameron reported.
Carter was a passenger in a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up driven by Samuel L. Lowe, 23, of Dandridge.
Lowe was headed south on Flat Gap Road when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road on a curve, the trooper’s report indicates. The truck hit a guardrail, which caused it to travel back across the roadway and strike a large tree.
Members of the Lakeway Central Volunteer Fire Department and New Market Volunteer Fire Department freed both victims from the wreckage of the truck.
Lowe was taken to University of Tennessee Medical Center by Lifestar. Both occupants of the truck were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash, the trooper reported.
