Grand Island, NE : Loup City man injured in a two-vehicle accident, west of 70th Road and Highway 2 early Friday afternoon, July 15, 2016

A Loup City man was transported to CHI Health St. Francis following a two-vehicle accident early Friday afternoon just west of 70th Road and Highway 2.

Matthew Peters, 42, was treated and transferred to another facility, said a nursing supervisor at CHI Health St. Francis. She did not know the name of the other facility.

The two motorists in the accident were both headed west on Highway 2. Guy Chambers, a 62-year-old Grand Island man driving a blue Chevy Silverado, had stopped and was attempting to turn left into a residence on the south side of the road. Peters, driving a beige Buick Park Avenue, didn’t see the truck and hit it, said Hall County Deputy Jeff Schneider.

The accident happened at about 12:30 p.m.

Both cars were towed away and probably totaled, Schneider said.

He plans to issue a citation against Peters.
