Columbia City, IN : Columbia City man dies in off-road-vehicle crash on Thursday, 22nd August 2019

A Columbia City man died following an off-road-vehicle crash, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said today.

Kenneth Stroud, 61, of Columbia City was found unresponsive in the road about 9 p.m. Thursday at an intersection near Columbia City, conservation officers said in a statement.

Stroud was near a 2019 Polaris Sportsman 570 that had been rolled on its side, the statement said.

It said Stroud was treated at the scene, then flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, where he was pronounced dead early today.

The initial investigation found Stroud was driving recklessly in the intersection and lost control, resulting in the machine ejecting him and then rolling over on top of him, the statement said. It said he was not wearing a helmet or protective riding gear at the time of the accident.
