Spring Valley, NV : Motorcyclist who was critically injured while speeding off on Thursday morning August 21st 2014

A motorcyclist who was critically injured while speeding off this morning after police tried to make a traffic stop has been identified as 23-year-old Eric Rejman, Metro Police said. A Metro officer attempted to stop a driver about 10:15 a.m. in a Spring Valley neighborhood for having an unregistered motorcycle, Metro Officer Laura Meltzer said. The driver failed to stop and took off at a high rate of speed, Meltzer said. Rejman traveled southbound on Ravenwood Drive on his 2002 Suzuki GSX-R 750 and failed to safely negotiate a bend in the road near Spring Valley Parkway, according to a media release from Metro. According to the release, Rejman separated from the motorcycle and slid on the sidewalk until striking a stop sign at the intersection. The officer was not pursuing the motorcycle at the time of the crash, Meltzer said.
