A Lorain woman remains in critical condition after a car wreck Saturday that left an Elyria Township man dead.
A spokesperson at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland said Lourdes J. Rodriquez, 42, of Grove Avenue, was flown to the hospital after being involved in a head-on collision Saturday and is in critical condition.
The Ohio Highway Patrol said Christopher J. Gusky, 43, of Emerson Court, was driving eastbound on state Route 113 near Clemens Avenue about 5 p.m. when he hit a Rodriquez’s Ford Windstar head-on.
Gusky wasn’t wearing a seat belt and died as a result of his injuries. Rodriquez also was not wearing a seat belt.
Rodriquez’s two passengers — Jakelyn Garced, 20, and Marisol Garced, 2, also were injured and were taken to University Hospital Elyria Medical Center for treatment and have since been released. The Garceds also were not wearing safety restraints.
Frederick Lehmann, 59, of North Olmsted, the driver of a second car struck by Gusky, was unharmed at the scene. Lehmann was wearing a seat belt.
The patrol’s Elyria Post is investigating the crash. It is not known if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
