Jefferson City, MO : Two killed in Callaway County wreck on Wednesday, January 11th 2017

Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning in Callaway County.

Missouri Highway Patrol reports show the crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on U.S. 54 eastbound, just over a mile east of Route AA.

Christopher Edwards, 40, of Fulton, was going west in the eastbound lane and struck a vehicle driven by Christopher Steelman, 32, of New Bloomfield, head-on.

After impact, Steelman's vehicle overturned and went into the median. Edwards' vehicle rotated, travelled partially into the median and caught fire.

Both drivers were not wearing seat belts, and both were pronounced dead at the scene.

A Holts Summit man was treated for moderate injuries after being hit by a vehicle while walking Tuesday evening in Callaway County.

Patrol reports show the incident occurred at 5:41 p.m. on Route AA, eastbound, just east of the U.S. 54 East Outer Road.

David Padgett, 28, was out walking and was struck by a vehicle that left the scene.

Authorities were still trying to determine who was the driver of the vehicle.
