Newark, DE : Two dead following crash in Newark on Polly Drummond Hill Road on Friday, October 17, 2014
Two men trapped in their car for more than two hours following a crash in Newark have died.
Delaware State Police say a 21-year-old Shane Colby of Newark was apparently speeding in his 2001 Audi A-4 at 12:05 a.m. Friday when he failed to negotiate a curve on Polly Drummond Hill Road. The Audi entered the oncoming lanes, hit an SUV head-on and then flipped end to end, landing upside-down.
Police say Colby and his 21-year-old passenger, Enoch Lee of Newark, were trapped for more than two hours before rescuers freed them. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The 48-year-old man driving the SUV was trapped in his car for about a half-hour before crews rescued him. He was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
