Hazleton, PA : One injured after a car collided with a tractor-trailer in Sugarloaf Township on Friday morning, June 17, 2016
One person was taken for medical evaluation after a car collided with a tractor-trailer in Sugarloaf Township on Friday morning.
Sugarloaf Township Police Chief Josh Winters said the sedan was being driven onto Route 93 from Brookhill Square Road, between Lehigh Valley Heath Network and Tom’s Kitchen, when the male driver from Drums pulled into the path of a southbound tractor-trailer.
The driver of the rig, who was from Iowa, tried to avoid the collision by swerving into the opposing lane, Winters said, but was unable to totally avoid impact and the sedan hit his trailer.
The crash would have been a lot worse, Winters said, had the tractor-trailer driver not been paying attention.
Winters said the sedan went under the trailer and sustained front end and driver’s side damage while an axel on the tractor-trailer’s passenger side was broken.
The male operating the sedan was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton for evaluation and the tractor-trailer driver wasn’t injured.
